Bookkeeper

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team on a part time basis – 2 days/15 hours per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled finance professional who is confident managing day-to-day accounting tasks and supporting business operations with accurate financial information.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of UK accounting standards, experience with Sage accounting and payroll software, with the ability to work independently while meeting strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
  • Manage accounts payable
  • Perform bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HM Revenue & Customs requirements
  • Process payroll
  • Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
  • Prepare management reports and cash flow forecasts
  • Support external accountants during annual accounts preparation

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years’ bookkeeping experience in the UK
  • Understanding of VAT and UK payroll processes
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Desirable

  • Experience working within an SME environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage Accounts
  • AAT qualification or above, or equivalent experience
  • Experience preparing management accounts

Core Benefits

Holidays: 25 days per annum (plus bank holidays), increasing with length of service, pro rata for part-time hours.

Pension Scheme: 3% Employer and 4% Employee contributions

Death in Service: 4 x salary

PHI: 75% up to age 65, 13 weeks deferred
