Rosebridge year in review: a look back at 2023

As we approach the end of the year, it is a good opportunity to look ahead and plan what you might like to achieve in 2024. You may well have already set some goals and aspirations for the new year.

While looking ahead is a useful exercise, this is also a chance to reflect on the year that has gone by. For us at Rosebridge, 2023 has been another busy and hugely successful year.

We have seen our team members improve their skills and knowledge, completing various qualifications and accreditations. We have also been highly active in our community, contributing to many worthy causes, all while continuing to provide a high-quality service for our clients.

A great deal of our hard work has also been more widely recognised in the industry, with our business being awarded some significant accolades.

So, read our Rosebridge year in review to find out what happened this year.

We launched our brand-new DFM proposition, Rosebridge Asset Management Limited

Perhaps the most significant event to have happened at Rosebridge this year is the launch of Rosebridge Asset Management Limited, our brand-new Discretionary Fund Management (DFM) proposition.

Rosebridge Asset Management Limited is the UK’s first offering of its kind in the profession, featuring a bespoke collaboration with three heavyweight financial providers:

  • Vanguard
  • Redington
  • AJ Bell

Having launched our initial core investment solution over 10 years ago, we have now grown to a size and scale that means we can bring this in-house.

This is why we have launched Rosebridge Asset Management Limited, giving us control of a robust investment solution that provides lower costs, better performance (based on back-tested models), and external expertise in the form of our new Rosebridge Asset Management Investment Committee.

Rosebridge Asset Management Limited is the culmination of two years of hard work, so we are thrilled to have been able to roll this out to clients this year.

Our team members have gained crucial qualifications

At Rosebridge, we are committed to helping our team members develop in their roles, providing opportunities for them to grow and thrive in our profession.

So, we are thrilled to say that this year, our team members have expanded their knowledge and experience by passing significant financial planning exams to gain hugely impressive qualifications and accreditations. Between them, our team achieved 11 exam passes in 2023.

In September, Chris Swaby passed the final assignments he needed to attain Chartered status – the “gold standard” of financial planning.

Chris has been with Rosebridge for 14 years, starting as an office junior and progressing through various roles to become an adviser. So, to have climbed all the way to being a Chartered Financial Planner is a huge achievement, demonstrating his commitment to financial services.

Meanwhile, Tom Parr achieved his Diploma status this year, meaning he has developed and demonstrated a deep technical understanding of the key areas of financial planning.

Other valued members of our team who also passed exams this year include:

  • George Round
  • Joe Beavis
  • Chris Morley
  • Lewis Harrison

A huge congratulations to all of you – it has been great to see our team hit new heights this year.

We were included in the Top 100 UK Financial Planning firms for the 7th year in a row

One of our biggest achievements of 2023 came late on in the year in November, when we were included in the Citywire New Model Adviser Top 100.

This annual accolade celebrates the country’s outstanding financial planning firms, listing the top 100 each year based on the quality of service that clients receive.

2023 marked our seventh consecutive year in a row to make the list, so we are thrilled to be recognised once again as one of the top firms in the UK.

We have continued to offer our support to charitable causes

As well as supporting our clients and refining the service we provide, we are also keen to assist various charitable causes that provide vital aid to people in our local area and beyond. 2023 has been no exception, with Rosebridge lending a hand to various different charities and causes around us.

We support and are a member of The Hive 100, a charity for local businesses that helps them support young people in the Wirral.

Then in March, we were the main sponsor of the NSPCC Charity Fashion Show 2023. The NSPCC is a vital children’s charity, providing therapeutic services to help children move on from abuse, as well as supporting parents and families in caring for their children.

The fantastic event raised £17,000 for Childline, a free counselling service for children offered by the NSPCC. This money will make a huge difference to the lives of many children across the UK.

In April, our client services administrator, Grace Parry, launched the Star Box Group, a charity that provides small gifts and treats for cancer patients, as well as mental health support for those who may need it.

Grace previously raised £10,000 to provide 100 Treatment Bags to patients in 2020 and now, alongside five fellow volunteers, has set up the Star Box Group to continue doing this valuable work.

Similarly, Andrew Lee, one of our Chartered Financial Planners, completed the Bury 10k in October, raising money for two fantastic charities. He has also run the Heaton Park Half Marathon this month, racking up even more miles to raise money for worthy causes.

We are incredibly proud of both Grace and Andrew for their remarkable efforts.

Alongside these achievements, we have also contributed to a range of other causes this year, including:

  • Parkinsons UK
  • Bury Hospice
  • Macmillan Cancer Support
  • Open Door
  • Andy’s Man Club
  • Ramsbottom United FC
  • Rainbow Junktion
  • Ramsbottom Pantry
  • Hits Radio’s Mission Christmas

It is so important to us that we use our platform to support all these causes. We look forward to continuing to offer our support to charitable organisations in 2024.

We strengthened our bonds with fantastic social events and team-building days

It has not been just hard work for everyone at Rosebridge this year, as we have also strengthened our team bonds with social events and team-building days.

We held a “Summer on the Terrace” event in June, enjoying some great Mexican street food from El Kantina, as well as a glass of fizz and some fantastic entertainment.

Then in October, we travelled to Manchester for a team-building event. The day started at Food Sorcery, a hands-on cookery school and team-building event, where we took part in some fantastic cooking sessions.

We then headed to Lane7 to enjoy some games of bowling and pool. Days out like these are great for building relationships across the business and helping our team members relax after all their hard work helping our clients.
